9 killed in Maiduguri Twin bomb blasts

Nigeria’s army  confirmed that the two suicide bombers who carried out Saturday morning’s attack in Borno State capital, Maiduguri, were females.
Army spokesman Colonel Sani Usman after the first bomber detonated her bomb, the second tailed a fuel tanker that was about to discharge fuel at a station. She was in a local tricycle popularly called “keke.”

He said, “miraculously, a car came in between them (the “keke” and the fuel tanker). The bomber, whether by error or whatever detonated, killing all the three occupants of the tricycle. There was no other person involved.”
The bombings came 17 days after a car bomb that killed 10 people when a convoy was hit in the outskirt of the city. The explosion at Muna garage hit the convoy with a military escort as it made its way to Gamboru Ngala.
Two suicide bombers killed at least nine people on Saturday in the northeastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri, capital of Nigeria’s Borno State.
The attack was confirmed by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), military source and residents. The NEMA added that 24 persons were injured and had since been evacuated to various hospitals.
The first attack occurred at 0600 GMT in front of a camp for displaced persons in the Bakasi area and minutes later a second bomb went off at a bus stop, an eyewitness said.
